After Claire was born our family was complete, we were so happy with our three Children, and by then we had our first little dog, Titchie. Titch was a lovely little Yorkshire Terrier. Titch always had an uncanny knack of knowing when we were on our way home and would sit at the front door waiting for us to arrive home from the time we left wherever it was we had been that day. John unlike a lot of men at that time, really enjoyed the children and did his fair share of nappy changing, night feeds, cooking, sitting up with sick children, and the inevitable trips to casualty! He always worked so hard for his family. On Johns days off from the Fire Brigade he worked part time to earn extra money which meant he usually worked 5 days and 2 nights out of every 6, sometimes more. He made sure the kids and I had everything we needed. At Christmas when money was tight, if we could not afford to buy the things the children wanted, John would make them. He made the girls the most beautiful dolls house, it was huge and every room had carpet, wallpaper and furniture. It took him ages to build - especially as he wasn’t able to work on it when prying eyes were around! Another Christmas we bought 2nd hand bikes for all 3 of them, and he restored and painted them until they looked brand new!
